The Dutch meatball is our base, made fresh and fully halal. We picked the classic Dutch meatball on purpose, then gave it an international twist, because this product has so much more in it.

What you taste, we make ourselves.
Everything on the menu above, we make ourselves every day in the open kitchen on the Kinkerstraat. With suppliers we have worked with for years: Kesbeke for the onions, atjar and kimchi, Frites Uit Zuyd for the fries, and Old Amsterdam for the cheese. No ready-made sauces.
Next to the eight classics we swap our Specials each season. Right now we serve the Meatball Focaccia and the vegetarian Mozzarella Focaccia with buffalo mozzarella and tomato tapenade.

Is the whole menu halal?
Yes. All meatballs on the menu (Classic, Spicy, Chicken and Extra Meat) are made 100% halal. Our sauces and stocks also meet the halal standard. The vegan ball and the Mozzarella Focaccia are of course suitable too.
Can I order any sandwich vegan?
Yes, on almost every sandwich you can swap your meatball for our vegan ball (+€0.75). Some toppings contain dairy like mozzarella, feta or Old Amsterdam. Tell us at the counter that you want fully plant-based and we adjust the sandwich.
What is the difference between Classic, Spicy, Chicken, Vegan and Extra Meat?
Classic is our standard beef meatball (no extra cost). Spicy is the same base with extra spicy herbs (+€0.75). Chicken is a lighter chicken meatball (+€0.75). Vegan is fully plant-based (+€0.75). Extra Meat is a double ball if you are really hungry (+€1.95). All halal.
What are your most popular sandwiches?
The Amsterdammertje (€8.95) stays the favourite, our classic with smoked mayonnaise and Kesbeke onions. Guests also love the Tokyo Crunch (€9.95) for a bit more adventure, and the Bellissimo (€10.95) as a premium pick with mozzarella and pesto.
How big is a meatball?
Our standard ball is 65 gram, a proper portion on a sturdy bun. Want more? Pick Extra Meat for a double ball, or order Snack Balls on the side in Small (6 pieces), Medium (9 pieces) or Large (12 pieces).
Do the sandwiches contain nuts or allergens?
Some sandwiches contain nuts: the Indonesian has peanuts, the Bellissimo and Mozzarella Focaccia contain pine nuts or pesto. Several sandwiches contain dairy or gluten. We work in an open kitchen, so traces of allergens cannot be fully excluded. If in doubt, ask our team, they know every sandwich.
Do you have gluten-free options?
At the moment we do not have a fully gluten-free sandwich on the menu. Snack Balls and Loaded Fries can be ordered gluten-free on request. We are working on a gluten-free bun. Ask our team for an update.
How often does the menu change?
The eight classic Meatball Sandwiches stay on the menu all year. We also rotate our Specials each season, currently the Spring Specials with the Meatball Focaccia and the vegetarian Mozzarella Focaccia.
What is a meatball sandwich (broodje bal)?
A "broodje bal" is a soft bun with a whole or half meatball inside, a Dutch café classic. At Meat The Balls we take it to the next level with eight toppings from around the world.

The base: meatball in a soft bun. With us, you pick from eight toppings, from Tokyo Crunch (wakame, wasabi mayonnaise, nori chips) to The Amsterdammertje (smoked mayonnaise, Kesbeke onions) and Ball of Zeus (tzatziki, feta, oregano). See the full menu above.
What meat do you use for the meatball sandwiches?
We work with 100% halal beef and veal mince. Our balls are made fresh by hand in the open kitchen on the Kinkerstraat in Amsterdam. For vegan guests we have a full plant-based option.
What is a typical Amsterdam sandwich?
The classics are "broodje halfom" (liver + cured meat) and the meatball sandwich. We focus fully on the last one, with our own version, The Amsterdammertje, as a tribute.
